Farnaworth intends to offer a substitute providing for the immediate admission of the Stato, and declaring that this aot shall not be oon-(trued so as to prohibit the people of Georgia from electing a now Legislature next fall.

This is substantially the. Bing-' ham amendment, and will be supported by many Republicans and by all of the Dem- ocrata in the 1 1 ohm. i THKJCIHCUL IMPEACHMENT MATTER. I The presentation of two petitions by Mr. Julian to-day looking' toward the impeachment of Justice Field of the Supreme, and Judge Hoffman of the United States District Court of California, was a matter of general surprise.

The request was to have the Judiciary Committee examine certain Gold Land cases in Califor nia, on each of which it is alleged Urge sums of money wore used to secure a de cision. The matter is not very well understood here, but seems to spring from complications of long standing on the Pacific coast. THE SAN DOMINOO TREATY.
