Twenty selections for fellowships were made from 400 applicants to receive the fellowships. An entrant in the competition must submit a resume, a statement about his or her work and 10 slides of the work. Four jurors from museums across America met in Kansas City to make the selections.

"It's like a Fulbright or any kind of fellowship," Warren said. "It's to enhance the artistic career and there are no stipulations (about how the money Is to be used). They encourage all of us to apply for NEH Erant8" 'AM KYTV's Rains feted at benefit luncheon Everyone said it was the most fun of "one of those kinds of affairs" that they could remember. The occasion was a benefit luncheon to honor Fred Rains, public affairs director for KYTV-Channel 3 for 32 years on his semi-retirement. It was held at the Hawthorn Park Ramada Inn and 110 of Rains' friends, associates and admirers filled the dining room.

Speakers and honored guests were Stanley Peder-son, vice president and general manager of KYTV; Mayor George Scruggs; Dawin Emanuel, president of the Springfield Area Arts Council; Charles Bontrager, conductor of Springfield Symphony; Virgil Anderson; former president of Springfield Little Theatre and long-time supporter of the arts; Gary Ellison of Ellison Productions; Joe McAdoo of Drury College, Dede Smith of Regional Girls Shelter and Marti Montgomery of Junior League. Libby Salisbury, public relations director for KYTV, said the station expects to pass along proceeds of more than $1,000 from the luncheon to the Springfield Area Arts Council.
