Deaths WILLIAM A. HOFFNER William A. Hoffner, 93, of 1342 South Campbell, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in Burge-Protestant. Hospital following a short illness.

He had been a resident of Springfield since 1919 when he moved here as an employe of the United Iron Works. Mr. Hoffner was a member of the Dale Street Methodist Church and the Modern Woodsmen of the World. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. William C.

Bryant, Dayton, and Mrs. Russell M. Fort of the home; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Klingner Chapel with Dr. Z.

Glen Jones officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. LLOYD E. HALE Graveside services for Lloyd Elmo Hale, 57, Eureka Springs, who died at 5 a.m. Saturday in the Eureka Springs Hospital, will be at 2 p.m.

Monday in Hazelwood Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Dohm officiating. Mr. Hale, a construction worker, is survived by his wife, Dorothy. MRS.

AVA MABEL ESTHER Graveside services for Mrs. Mabel Esther Goff, 70, Almartha, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Ava Cemetery with Virgil Ferrell officiating. Burial will under direction of Clinkingbeard. Mrs.

Goff died Saturday morning in the home of a son, Richard, Almartha, after a long illness. She was the widow of Walter Goff, who died in 1946. Survivors in addition to the son are two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Johnston, Santa Ana, and Mrs. Edith Tornholm, Rock Island, and a brother, David Berg, Great Falls, Mont.

OMER MABERRY MARSHFIELD Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Omer Maberry, 75, Route 2, Marshfield, who died at 5:05 a.m. Saturday at BurgeProtestant Hospital in Springfield after a two-week illness. Mr. Maberry is survived by his wife, Ora, of the home here; one son, Delmar, Strafford; two brothers, Bert, Hale; and Everett, Bellflower, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Barber-Edwards Chapel here, with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. P. E. (BARNEY) HOUCHINS (Barney) Houchins, 59, 3101 Mt.

Vernon, died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday in' Burge-Protestant Hospital shortly after being admitted with an apparent heart attack. Mr. Houchins was a retired employe of the Uniroyal Rubber Company and moved to Springfield last September. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and he his wife had pastored several churches in I1- linois, where he also served as Sunday School superintendent and youth leader.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta; a son, Wayne, of the home; his father, Chester Houchins, Louisana, two sisters, Mrs. Moleta Clarkson, and Mrs. Mable Settles, both of Pleasant Hill, Ill. Arrangements are under direction of Ayre-Goodwin. FRED FISHER BOLIVAR Fred Fisher, 67, Bolivar, died at 3 p.m.

Saturday in St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he had been a patient since Thursday. Mr. Fisher was a retired farmer, veteran of World War II, member of the Bolivar American Legion Post 138 and a member of the Pleasant Hope Lodge 467, AF and AM. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs.

Christine Thiessen, of the home, and Mrs. Nancy Crowell, Tacoma, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Nelda Kamerer, Pleasant Hope; two step-sons, Robert Laster, St. Louis, and Carl Laster, DaNang, Vietnam; two grandchildren, 12 grandchildren, and one stepgreat-grandchild. Arrangements are under direction of Butler.

SHE WANTS TO SEE WHAT'S IN THE SEA SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (AP) Marine biology could be one of the answers to world peace, believes 16-year-old Sallye Davis, who has already done work in the field at the University of Hawaii's Institute of Marine Biology and plans to make it her career. The Highlands High Schools senior won a National Science Foundation Scholarship and took part in a summer-long research program at the Institute. United Only six students from the States were admitted to the program. The young would-be scientist wrote her term paper there on investigations she had made on toxins found in the spines of sea urchins.

She plans to attend the University of Houston next year and then hopes to return to the University of Hawaii for further marine biology studies. (AP)Maximiliano Zomosa was young medical student at the National University of Chile when he saw his first ballet. was a dance of Death, and enthralled him. The ballet was "The Green Table," choreographed by Kurt Jooss. Though his parents objected, Zomoso gave up medicine study music and the dance. His goal was to portray Joss' grisly specter.

He made his debut with the Chilean National Ballet in 1959 and three years, later he had become a soloist. He was Death in "The Green Table." The National Ballet visited the United States for the first time in 1964. In New York, Zomosa danced his special role again. He studied with the Joffrey Ballet School in New York the following year and joined the Joffrey company in 1966. performed "The Green Table" many times with the Joffrey Ballet.

A critic reported that his performance was "a fully justified triumph as Death a performance of fantastic power." On Thursday Zomosa's body was found in his car near a stab wound through the heart." VERNON Mrs. Yulan V. McCanse, 75, of Miller Route 2, died at 8 a.m at her home, after an apparent heart attack. She had been a resident of the Miller community eight years, moving there from Springfield. She was a member of the Miller Methodist Church.

Survivors include C. A. McCanse, of the home, and two sisters, Mrs. Addison, Caldwell, and Mrs. Maude Hunter, Ponca City, Okla.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Max L. Fossett chapel in Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. James Stephen McQueen officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Vernon IO0F Cemetery. MRS. EFFIE FINGER GOLDEN CITY Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Finger, 86, Golden City, will be at 2 p.m.

Monday in the Assembly of God Church at Golden City with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Collins Cemetery north of Lockwood under direction of Allison. Mrs. Finger died at 11:35 p.m.

Friday in Burge Protestant Hospital in Springfield three week illness. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. HARRY B. MENDENHALL CRANE- Funeral services for Harry B. Mendenhall, 79, Crane, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hurley High School auditorium with the Revs. Raymond Boyd and Hurel Merritt officiating.

MATTHEWS STRAFFORD Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday for Paul Edward Matthews, 61, Route 3, Strafford, who died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Hospital in Springfield after a two-week illness. A machinist for Reynolds Manufacturing Company the past 17 years, Mr.

Matthews was a member of Strafford Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Vonda Bain, Strafford; his father, Roy, of Mercy Villa in Springfield; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Shelburn, Columbia, and Mrs. Merna Sartain, Kansas City; two stepsons, Ivan Barnes, Strafford, and Teddy Barnes, Trenton; five sisters, Mrs.

Lucille Bollingar and Mrs. Leona Keltner, both of Springfield, Mrs. Erma Kaisler, Strafford, Mrs. Louise Nesmeth, Peoria, and Mrs. Edith Cowdrey, state of California; and 15 grandchildren.

Services will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home in Springfield, with the Rev. C. W. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bass Chapel Cemetery near Straf- ford.

MRS. WESLEY LATHROP OZARK Mrs. Bertha F. Lathrop, 65, Ozark, died at p.m. Saturday in the Davis Nursing Home in Springfield.

Mrs. Lathrop moved to Ozark from Seneca in 1966. She was a member of the Pentacostal Church. Surviving is her husband, Wesley. Arrangements are under diI rection of Harris.

The January traffic toll in the Ozarks stands at 15 today as the result of a Friday night drag race. Julie Miller, 22, Fort Scott, was killed at 10 p.m. Friday when a car in which she was riding, and which was involved in a drag race, missed a curve and overturned. Miss Miller was hurled from the careening car and the vehicle passed over her body. Trooper J.

M. Atkinson, of Nevada, reported the driver of the car, Margaret Ann Ransom, 19, Fort Scott, and another passenger, Martha Olive, 21, Fort Scott, were taken to Nevada City Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries. Miss Ransom was cited on a complaint of careless and imprudent driving, failure to exercise the highest degree of care, and excessive speed. (AP)-Bob Hope walked his daughter Linda down the aisle Saturday and along with Vice President-elect Spiro T.

Agnew and Gov. Ronald Reagan of California, watched her become Mrs. Nathaniel G. Lande of New York and Los Angeles. The couple was married by Msgr.

Harry Meade and blessed by Rabbi Norman Goldburg, from the groom's parent's hometown of Augusta, Ga. A thousand guests attended the wedding. Lande is 34, a native of Montreal, and a motion picture director who also is creative projects director for Time, Inc. He will take his 28-year-old bride on a six-week honeymoon voyage in the Caribbean. The wedding was elaborate.

Invitations were sent to Europe as well as the United States and Canada. A choir, brass quartet and organist performed as Miss Hope walked to the altar wearing a gown designed by George Hallay. It had a handknit top, jeweled girdle, modified turtleneck collar and floor-length bouffant skirt of French satin.
