See more obituaries on 3B Fern Elizabeth (Claxton) Robb, 89, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in James River Care Center. She was born December 8, 1921 in Buffalo, and was preceded in death by her father and mother, Odus Claxton and Amy (Neill) Claxton, and her husband, Fred Robb.

Fern is survived by daugh-1 ter, Ann Wise, Springfield, three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two brothers, F.E. "Gene" Claxton of Springfield and Sam Claxton and his wife, Mary, of Nixa. Fern was a 76 year faithful member of Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church joining in 1935. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Fern was owner and operator of a Springfield restaurant for several years prior to her employment as a bookkeeper in 1959 for the John A.

Morris Company. She then joined Bass Pro Company in 1977 and had the distinction of being the first employee. She retired in 1999. Funeral services will be held in Greenlawn East Funeral Home on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 3 P.M. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Friends may visit from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday in the funeral home.

Tonight NEWS-LEADER Rev. Jerry W. Hilton, age 80, of Strafford, passed away Sunday, cember 26, 2010 at John's Medical Center. He was born December 21, 1930, in Crane, Daniel and Mary (Hood) Hilton. He was a pastor with the Southern Baptist Convention ministering several churches.

Jerry W. Hilton Mabel Lydia Aborn Phillips Mabel Lydia Aborn Phillips was born in her childhood home in Mansfield, on December 15, 1925. She departed this life December 25, 2010. Her parents were Charles Arlington Aborn and Elsie Evelyn Scott North and have preceded her to heaven. James "Jim" Kenneth Aborn is her only living sibling.

William; Mary Jo; Nellie Pearle; Charles "Scott" and Ira have preceded her in passing. She met and married Wm "Bill" Markofer Phillips May 31 1948. "Bill" preceded her in death December 31, 1992. They had six children: Wm "Bill" Phillips Jr. wife Sharon; Charles Leroy Phillips wife Charlene; Mary Evelyn Yates husband Eddie; Markanna Irene Conner husband Stanley; Susen Kay Keene husband Greg.

They lost their infant son James Paul shortly after his July birth. her 6 children and their five spouses; 11 grandchildren and their 10 spouses; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her heart expanded to include many beloved nieces, nephews, other chosen family members and church family members that will all deeply miss her and the Christian example she showed to all that came near her. Mom, Grandma, Great-Great we miss you and love you deeply. We will meet you in heaven in God's good time.

Home, Arkansas. On December 28, 2010 surrounded by loved ones he went to be with the Lord. Daryl was an army veteran in World War with an honorable discharge in 1946. He married Reba Scott in 1945 and they remained friends thru out the years. To this union two daughters were born.

Daryl was a retiree of Frisco Railroad. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized as a teenager. In his later years he has enjoyed attending Woodland Height Presbyterian Church with his long time very special friend Arlene Boren of Springfield, Missouri. He is survived by his two daughters Darlene Howard, Gale Thomas and husband Danny all of Forsyth; five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many grandchildren, and one sister Schubert of California. great A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M.

to in Berenice Leon Thompson, 95, passed on to her heavenly home, while at Sonshine Manor Nursing Home (Republic) on December 27, 2010. She was born June 21, 1915 to Austin and Irene Ballance in Shannon County, Mo. Berenice married Gerald D. Thompson on March 20, 1937. To that union were born two children, daughter, Glodeen Jennings; and son, Jerry Thompson (wife, Jean), all of Springfield; also four grandchildren, Tamara (Michael) Rentchler, Brian (Angela) Thompson, Michael (Carla) Thompson, Gregory Thompson (deceased); eight, great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.

Also sister Geneva Koogler and several nephews and nieces. Berenice taught public school when she was only 18 years old and then was selected to start the Hot Lunch Program for Shannon County Schools which she did for approx, 15 years. She always loved children and people in general. In 1960 Berenice and Gerald moved to Springfield. They became active in their community and church, Webster Park Baptist and served at that church for 45 years.

Berenice taught in the church, in several public schools in remedial courses, assisting in any capacity she could help. She was involved helping inmates in Greene County Jail learn to read and study for their GED's. She enjoyed helping people, giving of her self and proclaiming her strong faith in Christ. She lived her faith and today, she is enjoying her "New" life with her savior and with her family that went ahead of her. The family appreciates the staff and caregivers at Sonshine Manor and the loving care they all gave.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 31, 2010 at 3 P.M. in Greeniawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, December 30 in the funeral home. Berenice lived full life, giving more than she received, loving her family and all of her family loved her.

Greenlawn Nellie Thompson Nellie Thompson, passed away after battling a longtime illness on December 28, 2010. She was born on February 4, 1953, in Springfield, MO, to Ernest and Nellie Morelock. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Arthur, Lester, Dennis, and Denny Morelock. She is survived by her husband William Thompson; a daughter and her husband Shannon and Clayton Boyer; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Jason and Shawnel Thompson; four grandchildren: Taylor and Shelby Boyer, and Chris and Tiffany Peck; four brothers: David, Marion, Arnold, and Boyd Morelock; and five sisters: Vonda Cover, Trellis Newman, Joyce Hemmerling, Carol Ebbrecht, and Carolyn Kern. She wished to convey a special thank you to two people for always being there for her; her best friend since age 9, Debbie Price, who taught her how to crochet, which gave her many hours of enjoyment; and to Billy Joe Fitch, whom she always loved as if he were her brother.

Her family would also like to say a special thank you to the Hospice Compassus, especially to Katie, Theresa, and Suzy; and to the Jordan Creek Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010, Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Jeremy Scott Stevens Jeremy Scott Stevens, age 23, of Springfield, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010.

He was born December 15, 1987 in Tampa, the son of David and Janice Stevens. He was a graduate of Parkview high school and an Iraqi War Veteran. He was a caring person that thought of others before himself. He was survived by his fiance Nici Glore, his parents David and bothers; Justin, Joshua, Jordan niece Lylah, grandparents Thomas and da Stevens and grandmother Elaine Wall and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
