Monday, October 27, 2003 NEWS-LEADER Rogersville group obtains tax credits for new park ROGERSVILLE The entire region could benefit from $250,000 in state tax credits obtained by the Rogersville Community Betterment Group through the Missouri Department of Economic Development's Youth Opportunities Program. When sold, the tax credits will add up to $500,000 for a proposed community building complex to be located in a new park in southeastern Greene County on U.S. 60 at Farm Road By Donna Baxter FOR THE NEWS- LEADER 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. People who donate to the park through the 501(c)(3) will receive state tax credits for half of a donation up to $200,000. For a property contribution, the donor will receive 30 percent in tax credits off the top of their tax liability.

In other words, tax credits redirect the donor's tax dollars back into their community. "Tax credits will be available to anyone in the state of Missouri who owns property and pays taxes," said Regina Cameron, president of the Betterment Group. People and large or small businesses may participate, she said. A single donor may receive up to $200,000 in Youth Opportu- 247. The Rogersville Greene Co.

The Betterment Christian Co. Group has a contingency contract on 33 acres. The community has three years from Oct. 1, 2003, to complete the building complex, which includes the acquisition of land, completion of the building and getting the programs in place, Miller said.
