Pyatt Mary A. Pyatt, 83, Springfield, passed away at 2:23 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in Cox South Hospital. Mary was born Sept.

22, 1920, in Odin, the daughter of Alva and Lorinda (Doty) Jones. She was saved at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in her youth and was baptized at the Woods Fork Creek near Mount Zion. She was united in marriage to Kermit Pyatt on Oct. 17, 1942, near Odon. She lived all of her life in Wright and Greene counties, moving to Springfield in 1957.

She retired from Lily Tulip after 20 years of service. She was an active member of Springfield Bible Church. She was also part of the Wilted Lilies and the Christian Women's Club. She enioyed traveling with her husband and caring for her kids. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Fred Jones; and a sister, Majorie Hyder.

Survivors include her husband, Kermit; three children, Gordon Pyatt of Springfield, Ed Pyatt and wife Barbara of Buffalo, and Beverly Robinson and husband William of Tulsa, seven grandchildren, Chris Pyatt, Judson Pyatt, Alisha Pyatt, Ben Pyatt, Ashley Robinson, Sarah Robinson and Ethan Robinson; two step-grandchildren, Aaron 1 Weaver and Shiloh Van Nostrand and husband Danny; one sister, Fayma Lowe of Wichita, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in Springfield Bible Church, 2145 E. Minor, age 91, of Springfield, passed away at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Maranatha Lodge Nursing Home. He worked as a welder for Frisco Railroad for over 40 years and attended High Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing and trains.

Survivors include his son, Gordon Minor and wife Wanda, Springfield; two grandsons, David Minor and wife Joyce, and Robert Minor; four great-grandsons, Elston, Matthew, Andrew and Caleb; three sisters, Thelma Waller, Juanita Young, Carol Selby; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in St. John's Hospital. The son of William O. and Ruth Underwood, he was born in Springfield on Oct.

9, 1927. He was a sales representative for American Business Machines for 32 years prior to his retirement. At the time of his death, he was a member of Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church where he was an elder. Earlier he was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder, deacon and assistant treasurer. He had been a member at Cumberland for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Alice to whom he was wed Oct. 18, 1947; two sons and their wives, Jack C. and Elaine Underwood, and David and Debbie Underwood, all of Springfield; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Norman Hill of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services are 3 p.m. Friday, Jan.

30, 2004, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with Greg Esselman officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Higgins Johnnie T. Higgins, 93, born in Springfield, December 15, 1910, died in Phoenix, January 26, 2004. Johnnie graduated from Central High School and attended Southwestern Missouri State College for one year. He excelled in many sports, including football and track, and he was a longtime fixture in Springfield softball, which he helped organize more than 75 years ago. Higgins was inducted by the National Baseball Association into the Springfield Missouri Softball Hall of Fame in 1965.

During his playing days, he played in 23 State and Regional fast pitch softball tournaments. He helped organize the first fast pitch softball league in Springfield in 1926 and went on to pitch for over 30 years. During his career he pitched 12 no-hitters, 8 one-hitters, and many shutouts. His personal record for strike outs in a single game was 19 (in a 7- inning game). He also pitched 6 back-to-back double headers and served a total of 41 years on the Springfield Amateur Softball Association Executive Board.

Higgins Field at the Ewing Softball Complex was named in his honor. He was a member of Pythian Avenue Baptist Church and later Grant Avenue Baptist Church. He spent all but the last ten years of his life in Springfield where he worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 25 years, Colonial Bakery for 8 years, and then 15 years with the Springfield school system where he maintained Kennedy Stadium for football and track. Johnnie was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 53 years and was in the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine. is survived by one daughter, Linda Higgins Brown, and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

Robert Britain Rena Alene Grabher Robert Britain, 82, Republic, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.

27, 2004, in his home. He was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Greene County, the son of Lawrence and Ruby Lee (DeBoard) Britain. He was united in marriage to Juanita Brown on June 21, 1942, in Republic. Mr.

Britain served his country during World War I1 in the U.S. Army and was a Purple Heart recipient. Baptized at an early age, was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Republic. He was also a ber of the American Legion Post 676. Mr.

Britain was a farmer and a self-employed bulldozer operator. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bud Britain and Don Britain; a sister, Billie Steelman; and an infant sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita; seven children, Darlene Bressie, Britain, Danny Mike Britain, Joe Britain, Diane Kershner and Penny Wingo; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Britain; a sister, Peggy O'Neill and husband Jim, all of Republic; other relatives; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan.

Mary Francis Botts Mount Vernon-Mary Francis Botts, 69, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was born July 14, 1934, in Summersville, to Ralph and Vera (Smith) Bryson.

Mary lived in the Lawrence County community to the majority of her lifetime. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God, Church on the Loop. On Aug. 31, 1950, she married Floyd Botts in Hot Springs, Ark. He preceded her in death Dec.

20, 2003. Her father and infant son also preceded her in death. Survivors include her mother, Vera Bryson Kerr; one daughter, Deborah Pulliam and husband Cameron, Carl Junction; one son, Michael Botts, Aurora; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Assembly of God, Church on the Loop, with burial at the Mount Vernon 1.0.0.F Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in care of the funeral home. Howard E. Clements Howard E.

Clements was born July 2, 1908, in Brookfield, and passed away on Jan. 24, 2004, in Primrose Place at the age of 95. He was married to Julia Judson on Jan. 1, 1937, who preceded him in death in July, 1982. He was a 1931 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering.

Howard served honorably in World War I1 as Major in the U.S. Army, working from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. from Feb. 1941 to April 1946. He was a member of the lin, and Masonic Presbyterian Church, of JopLodge for over 50 years.

Howard will be missed by many friends who will member him as a well respected and very gracious gentleman. Graveside services are planned for today, Jan. 29, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Springfield, with the Rev. Ray Brinson officiating.

Rena Alene Grabher, 61, of Seymour, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Cox South, Springfield. Rena was a lifelong resident of the Seymour area, a homemaker, and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She had worked part time as a receptionist at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Seymour for three years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris Ross and Mabel Alene Johnson Yarger; her husband, Raymond M. Grabher; a daughter, Pamela; three sons, Bradley, Darin and Raymond Dewayne; and two brothers, Bennie and Edgar Yarger. She is survived by her son and his wife, Brian and Jacque Grabher, Seymour; three grandchildren, Taylor, Bryson and Zachary; two brothers, Wendell Yarger, Mountain Grove, and Howard Yarger, Seymour; two sisters, Carrie Glenn, Niangua, and Brenda Replogle, Marshfield; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends. Services are 2 p.m. Friday, Jan.

Box 366, Seymour, MO 65746. Joyce Lenora James Joyce Lenora James, 75, Republic, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Cox South, Springfield. She was born June 27, 1928, in Mountain Grove, the daughter of Grover Clayton and Anna Lenora (Byrnes) West.

She was united in marriage to Charlie James on May 28, 1965, and they made their home in Republic the past 38 years. Mrs. James was an active member of the Clever Full Gospel Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her husband, Charlie, of the home; three sons, Jimmy James and wife Amy, Ralph Bennett, and Dale Vernon Bennett; a daughter, Marianna Carter and husband Larry six grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; 41 nieces and nephews; other family; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Revs. Gary Phipps and Wayne DePriest officiating. Burial will follow in Wade Chapel Cemetery, Republic.
