Obituaries Clara Anderson Anderson, 97, Springfield, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, .1997, In Springfield Residential tenter. Mrs. Anderson was born on homestead in Kiowa County, on April 2, 1900, the daughter of William S.

and Sarah Fawkes Pearcey. She was united In marriage Sept. 5, 1925, in Springfield, to John G. Anderson, who preceded her in death in 1978. She and her husband were in the residential contracting business for over 40 years.

She was a member of -Grace United Methodist Church. The last of her generation, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sistres. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today, Oct.

Gilmore REEDS SPRINGS Robert K. Gilmore, 70, Reeds Spring, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, in his home. I Bob, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, taught in St.

Louis area public schools In the late 1940s and early 1950s, and had been associated with Southwest Missouri State University since 1959. Early in his career at SMSU, he co-founded the popular Tent Theatre. Besides teaching, he held administrative positions at SMSU. including 13 years' service as provost. At the time of his retirement in 1993, he was Director of Travel and Tourism for the university and co-editor and publisher of the quarterly magazine, Ozarks Watch.

Bob's academic interests end training were in the fields pi theatre, communications, business, and education. He held a doctorate in theater from the University of Minneso-tq, a Master's degree from St. Louis University, and two B.S. degrees from SMSU. adapted his doctoral dissertation into a book about early.

Ozarks entertainments, Ozark Baptizings, Hangings, and Other Diversions. A native Ozarker, he continued to research the Ozarks region, and he produced a semiweekly show, White River Journal, for public radio station KSMU. Scripts from that program a second book, The White River Journal Radio Book. was involved at the state and national level in historic preservation efforts. He was also a member and tead- er- in many civic organizations in- Springfield, Ozark, and the bakes Area.

He was a longtime worker in church affairs and a founding member and leader at Peace Lutheran E.LC.A. In Hol-lister. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lyons Gilmore; his daughter. Julie Gilmore Blood-Iworth and her husband, Terry; two sons, Thomas, and Michael and hit wife, Barbara; and four grandchildren. Josh ana Gabe Bloodworth, and Jace and Andrea Gilmore.

John's Regional Health Center. The son of James E. and Hollyce Smith, he was born In Rogersville, June 26, 1967. He was the devoted loving husband to Terri to whom he married Nov. 21, 1992; cherished son of James; grandson of Dora Maggard; uncle to Greg Smith; sister-in-law of Pam Smith; brother to Jim, location unknown; and dear friend to all who had the privilege to know and love him.

He was preceded In death by his mother, Holly. John survived a motor vehicle accident In 1988 that left him a quadriplegic. He courageously endured long months of therapy, married Terri, and worked for Heads Up, a program that lectured to teenage drivers in seven counties. In December 1996, he grau-dated Summa Cum Laude from SMSU and had begun work on his Master's degree in IndustrialOrganizational Psychology. He had been recognized in the Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities, and was a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi, and Psl Chi fraternities.

John triumphed over his disability and was an inspiration to all whose lives he touched. He will always be remembered for his sweet sense of humor, his love of the Kansas City Chiefs and all sports, and the respect and kindness he showed to all. He will be dearly missed. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct.

Lonita Carol Jamison On October 21 In the year of our Lord 1981, a dear daughter was born to the union of John Jamison and Carol Wilhite Jamison in Lincoln, Neb. They chose to name their daughter Lonita Carol Jamison. She was baptized at an early age by her grandfather, the Rev.

J.D. Jamison after accepting Christ as her savior. Lonita had lived in Springfield since the age of five. She was attending Glendale High School, but was scheduled to transfer to Central High School for the next quarter. She was past president of the Teens Against Gangs.

While she was president, she designed a mural which was displayed in downtown Springfield. She was a founding member of the Center for Interracial Family Living. She belonged to the Art Club and Amnesty International at Glendale. Lonita was a member of Benton Avenue African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was secretary for the Sunday school. Her hobbies included playing several musical instruments, the violin, keyboard and acoustic and electric rhythm guitar.

Life is short and we know not when we shall be called from our labor to our just reward. Lonita departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, at the age of 15 years, 11 months, and 29 days. Lonita donated several organs including her beautiful heart so that others might benefit from her passing. Those we hold most dear never truly leave us.

She was preceded in death by her two grandfathers, the Rev. John David Jamison and Clarence Wilhite. Survivors include her mother and father; two grandmothers, Polly Roark, Springfield, and Beretha Jamison, Monti-cello, six paternal uncles and an aunt; four maternal uncles and two aunts; 17 cousins; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct.

Kay Kellenberger Kay Kellenberger. 75. Springfield, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997 In his home.

The son of Max and Alta Ah ford, he was bom In Independence, Feb. 25, 1921 He was a member of the Christian Church, Independence, Kan. He was a retired journeyman machinist for Paul Mueller, Company, Springfield, several years prior to his retirement in 1985. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He Is survived by his wife, Margie to whom he was married Aug. 14, 1939; a son, William Kay and his wife. Barbara, Manassas, a brother, Keith, Piano, Texas; a sister, Zelda Bennett, Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday.

McGill William A. McGill, 81, Springfield, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, In Cox Medical Center South. Mr.

McGill was born Oct. 12, 1916, in Ashland, the son of Lucian E. and Edna G. Lowry McGill. He was united In marriage on Feb.

24, 1940, In Booneville, to Maxine Sutherland. Bill was a salesman with William R. Moore Dry Goods Store before retiring and moving to Springfield in 1982. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of South Haven Baptist Church.

He enjoyed yard-work, gardening, and was an avid sports fan. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Shirley Bloodworth; a granddaughter, Kim Gibson and her husband, Mike; a grandson, Jeff Bloodworth; a sister, Sue Elllng-sworth, all of Springfield, two sisters-in-law, Mavis McGill, Racine, Wise, and Ruby Sutherland, Booneville, and two nieces, Paula Johnson, Springfield, and Lynn Ellingsworth, Overland Park, Kan. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct.

21, 1997, In St. John's Regional Hearth Center. Susan was born In Springfield on May 19, 1917, to the late Sam M. and Susan M. McCleilan Wear.

She was a 1935 graduate of Greenwood High School. She married Rob-erf S. Stoltz II, who died during World War II. In 1946, she married George I. Mills Jr.

She was a member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, and was a church volunteer for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded In death by two brothers, A. Hunter Wear, and Sam Church, Mount Vernon. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Ralph E.

Russell, Sr. Ralph E. Russell 79, Springfield, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, in St.

John's Regional Health Center. Mr. Russell was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired service station operator. Ralph owned and operated the First Convenience Store, Springfield, during the late 1960 s.

He also owned and operated several service stations in Springfield. He was a long-time member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Freeda, of the home; three sons and their wives, Mike and Ann Russell, Springfield, Ralph Jr. and Norma Russell, Morrisville, and Larry and Cara Russell, Springfield, a daughter and her husband, Ginger and Leonard Johnson, Fullerton, 10 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; a brother, Wal-er Russell, Springfield, and longtime friends, Kenneth and Eva Price, Springfield, Mo. He was preceded In death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.

No services are planned. The body will be cremated under direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mary Ann Samek Mary Ann Samek, age 100, Springfield, and formerly of Bolivar, passed away at 2 p.m.

Tuesday. Oct. 21, 1997, in Mercy Villa, Springfield, following a short illness. Miss Samek was born Feb. 23, 1897, to Charles and Rosalie (Kopecky) Samek.

She had been a farmer, a housekeeper for Father Winkleman of the Catholic parrish, and a cook at Mercy Villa. She was a long time Bolivar resident prior to moving to Mercy Villa eight years ago. She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews and their families, Frank and Sandra Samek of Bolivar, Jeanette and Dave Furgeson of Springfield, Fran and Don Mowles of Springfield, Charles Samek of Mineo-lia, N.Y., James Edward and Patricia Samek of Springfied, Martha and Danny Wolf of Bolivar, Mary and Bruce Wakefield of Aldrich, Barbara and Jim Muller of Springfield, Michael and Tamarah Samek of Bolivar, and George Samek of Bolivar. Also surviving are several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Johnny Samek, JoAnne Hall and her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Vera Samek.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today, Oct. 23, 1997, In Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory E. J.

Oct. 22. 1997, In Aurora Community Hospital, Aurora, following an apparent heart attack. Gary was born Sept. 24, 1936, In Downey, Calif.

He had lived in the Mount Vernon community for 50 years. He had been the Lawrence County Commissioner for the past 10 years. He attended First Baptist Church, was a member of the Mount Vernon Lions Club, the McCanse Foundation, the Pachyderm Club, was on the OCAC Board, and served on serveral other boards at various times. He played minor league baseball for Philadelphia in the late 1950's and was a Pittsburg Pirate Scout in the early 1960's. He was a teacher and coach at Lake of the Ozarks and Pilot Grove Schools.

Survivors Include his wife, Peggy; three sons, Michael Brent Robb, Aurora, Eric Everett Robb, Republic, Aaron Matthew Robb, Campbells-burg, a daughter, Kelly Maureen Robb, Mount Vernon, a foster brother, Bill Robb, Neosho, and two grandchildren. The body has been cremated. Private family graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 1997, in Park Cemetery, Carthage, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home.

There will be no visitation, but the funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 23, 1997, for those who wish to sign the memorial book and view memorial pictures. A 'Celebration Service' will be held at 7 p.m.
