Adams was a native of Bolivar, and lived in Springfield for the past 40 years where she and her late husband, Basil Adams, owned the Hunters Store. She was a member of National Avenue Christian Church in Springfield, a member of P.E.O., a past president of FT of P.E.O., an alumni of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and an avid bridge player. She is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Faudskar, Tillimook, and Kathryn Ragsdale, Springfield, a son, Samuel Adams; a sister, Mrs. Anna Leigh Melton, Topeka, five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Nelton D. Falk 80, Springfield, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, in his home following a long ill- ness. Mr.

Falk was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Falum, Kan. He moved to Springfield in 1981 from Conway, Mo. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Falum, Lutheran Church. He was a World War I1 U.S.

Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Reba; two sons, Nelton Falk and Eric B. Falk, both of Billings, four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m.

Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Spring River Cemetery, near Verona, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. There will be no visitation but friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Gail H. Haddock Gail H. Haddock, 82, Springfield, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, in his home.

Gail, a retired attorney and farmer, was born July 28, 1915, in Minneapolis, the son of Paul B. and Millie H. Haddock, who preceded him in death, as well as a brother, Richard A. Haddock, and a sister, Pauline. He was united in marriage in 1952 to Blanch Marshall, who preceded him in death May 10, 1990.

Gail was united in marriage to Frances M. Brown on Dec. 23, 1991. Gail was born and raised near Minneapolis, attending grade school in Lindsey and high school in Minneapolis. He was a graduate from the Kansas University in Lawrence, in 1938.

Later he received his law degree for the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1941. He was a veteran of World War I1, serving on two aircraft carriers, the Block Island and the U.S.S. Bataan. Gail separated from the Navy in 1946 as a Lt. Sr.

Grade. Following his military he practiced law in Tacoma, 1952, and Denver, until 1972. He then retired to Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob, Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Frances; a sister, Mildred Stingley, Topeka, a sister-inlaw, Darlene Haddock, Minneapolis, a step-son, Tom Brown, Grass Valley, two Catherine Haack, Pensacola, and Jeanne Vigeant, Old Towne, as well as several nieces and step-grandchildren. Gail was a member of Shell Knob Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge of Springfield, and the American Legion.

Private graveside services, with military honors, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, in Springfield National Cemetery with Pastor James Lee of Shell Knob officiating under direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield. Gail was a loving family member and a caring friend and neighbor. The family has requested any memorial contributions be made in his honor to Central Community United Methodist Church, Hwy YY, Shell Knob, MO 65747, or St.

John's Hospice Care, 2055 S. Fremont, Springfield, MO 65804. William Earl Housley William Earl Housley, 80, Springfield, was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Mountain Grove, and died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct.

5, 1997, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo. Bill attended Mountain Grove High School, and was a member of High Street Baptist Church. Bill worked as a bricklayer and retired after 50 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Dovie (Rackley) Housley, Prior, three brothers and a sister-in-law, Ova and Gladys Housley, Springfield, Lonny Housley (infant), Mountain and Elmer Housley, Grove; two sisters and three brothers-inlaw, Ermie and Ocie Smith, Prior, Oma and John Woods, Mountain Grove, and Norman Burris, Hermiston, a son-in-law, Richard Arnall, Springfield; and a grandson, Rilen Spellman, Springfield. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Greeniawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, with the Rev. Bill Rogers officiating.

Army during World in the European Theater. He moved to Springfield in 1950 and was a machinist at Lily Tulip until he retired. He was a member of The Kirby Wilcox Bicentennial American Legion Post and Springfield First Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Gale Long; a sister; and a brother. Survivors include his wife, Hazel L.

Robbins Love, of the home; a son, Vaughn George, Springfield; a granddaughter and her husband, Angela and Tony Stillings, Springfield; a grandson and his wife, Mark and Brenda George, Strafford, and a great-granddaughter, Lindsey Stillings, Springfield. Funeral services will at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Gorman University Chapel with the Rev. Gene Howell officiating.

3, 1997, in Cox Medical Center North. Mrs. Nelson, a homemaker, was born July 31, 1924, in Sweet Springs, the daughter Nathan M. Crowder and Jesse E. VanHooser.

She was united in marriage Sept. 4, 1942, in Springfield, to David W. Nelson, who preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by a son, and two sisters. She was a member of 1 Central Christian Church.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Ronnie and Edie Nelson, Stratford, and Bill and Vicki Nelson, Springfield; two sisters, ArrahMedley, Quinian, Texas, and Juanita Campbell, Springfield, two brothers, Bill Crowder, Nixa, and Jerry Crowder, Bois D'Arc; a granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Ralph, Springfield; two grandsons, Chris Nelson, Nixa, Tony Nelson, Strafford; and two great-grandsons, Chance and Zachary. Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Springfield National Cemetery under direc- tion of Ayre-Goodwin-Lee, a Heritage Funeral Home at Rivermonte. The body will be cremated.

No visitation is planned. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Central Christian Church, 1475 Washington, Springfield, MO 65802. Carl S. "Dusty" Rhodes SHELL KNOB Carl S. "Dusty" Rhodes, 73, Shell Knob, died at 4 a.m.

Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, in his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Rhodes, son of Jack and Beulah Davis Rhodes, was born June 13, 1924, in Ozark, Mo. He was a World War U.S.

Army veteran. He was employed as a manager at Leeker's Family Foods, Wichita, for 15 years before moving to Shell Knob, in 1986. He was an avid gardner. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Shell Knob. He married Norma Jean Thompson on June 22, 1957, in Wichita, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, John Carl Rhodes and his wife, Beth, Springfield, six daughters, Carla Hiebert and her husband, Don, Gladstone, Charla Cowan and her husband, Mike, Lee's Summit, Vicky Brosemer, Emporia, Linda Murphy and her husband, Wayne, Wichita, Connie McKay and her husband, Mike, Kansas City, Patsy White and her husbnad, Leroy, Indianapolis, 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Cora Baggett, Nixa, and Mary Caveza, Fair Play, Mo. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 8, 1997, in Peace Lutheran Church, Shell Knob, with the Rev.

Frank Henry Scholtz OZARK Frank Henry Scholtz, 95, Ozark, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, in Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark.

Frank was born Aug. 20, 1902, in Kansas City, the son of German immigrants, Christian (Scholl) and Elizabeth (Debus) Scholtz. He was married to Wilma Olivia Brown, Oct. 1922, in Kansas City, Mo. They, were married 74 years before she preceded him in death, June 27, 1997.

Frank and Wilma owned and operated Twin Gables Steak House on Hwy. 160 between Nixa and Highlandville for years. Together they were active in many community affairs. He was one of the early supporters of the Nixa Sucker Days. He was an active member in the Nixa Lions Club, where he served in state offices as District Governor.

After selling House he traveled extensively in the midwestern and southern states as regional manager for the Grayhound Post Houses, Inc. Prior employment had been with the 'Reilly Hospital in Springfield and White Sands Atomic Project in Las Cruzes, N.M. Previously he lived in Cape Fair, on Table Rock Lake. Survivors include a daughter, Rosegene (Bilyeu) Blevins and her husband, Virgil, Nixa, a son, Frank W. Scholtz, Taneyville; 13 grandchildren; 26 and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, in Harris, a Heritage Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Rev. Tommy Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Chastain Cemetery, Nixa.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Frank was a wonderful dad, a great granddad, a kind friend, and a lovable patient. He will be greatly missed by all. Benjamin Jonathan Smith Benjamin Jonathan Smith, infant son of Robert and Victoria Rich Smith, died at 5:02 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, in Cox Medical Center South. Benjamin is survived by his parents, Robert and Victoria Smith; a brother, Parker Smith; a sister, Hollie Smith, all of the home; and his maternal and paternal grandparents. No services are planned. The body will be cremated under direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.

Herbert A. Tanner MONETT Herbert A. Tanner, 88, A Monett, departed this life at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, in Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett, after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 30, 1908, to August and Louise (Ottman) Tanner in Jefferson City, Mo. He was joined in marriage on May 15, 1937, to Eileen Pearl Davis and was a loving father to his son, Terry D. Tanner. He was an employee of the Missouri State Highway Department for 42 years when he retired in 1974.

He was a landscape design architect and was responsible for many landscape beautification projects in Missouri, including the Governor's Mansion, the State Capitol Building, and many other buildings throughout the state. He oversaw the Missouri Highway Department Exhibits at the World's Fairs in Chicago and San Francisco, and the Missouri Highway Department Exhibit Building at the Missouri State Fairs in Sedalia. Tanner resided in Monett, for the past 10 years, having moved from Ava, where he had lived for over 40 years. He was an avid sportsman, who was captain of the Jefferson City Jays football team during high school days, and who especially enjoyed bird hunting, fly tying, and fly fishing. Mr Tanner was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Monett, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; a son and his wife, Terry and Shirley Tanner, Republic, two granddaughters, Lisa Tanner and Sarah Tanner, both of Springfield, a grandson, Colby Tanner, Columbia, a very special nephew, Phillip E. Raithel, Jefferson City, and nieces, Mrs. Harriet Mcintire, Jefferson City, and Mrs. MaryLou Oglesby, state of Illinois.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, with the Rev. Hosea Bilyeu officiating. Burial will be in Monett 1.0.0.F.

Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, marked for research. Horace William "Bee" Utley Horace William "Bee" Utley, 93, Springfield, passed away at 2:55 a.m.

Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, in Primrose Place. He was born July 20, 1904, in Bolivar, the youngest son of Harvey B. and Adeline Mitchell Utley, longtime residents of the Bolivar community. He grew up and attended school in Bolivar until he moved to Springfield with his parents in 1925.

He became associated with the Springfield Gas and Electric Company for 20 years and later with TerrillPhelps Chevrolet Dealership where he served as credit manager for 20 years. He retired in 1967 and made his home with his sister, Miss Ellen Utley, until her death in 1983. In addition to his parents and sister, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruthe Gravely Utley, who died April 12, 1962. Survivors include a niece, Dorothy Hendry, Joplin, a niece-in-law, Vesta Blue, Bolivar, several and -nieces nephews; a and his wife, Clyde and Imogene Cowden, Springfield, Mo. Graveside services and burial will be at 10:30 a.m.
