Anderson, 83, Pleasant Hope, went to his Heavenly Home at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, In Maranatha Nursing Home, Springfield. Glen was bom Oct. 9, 1916, In Vallmer, Idaho, to Clyde and Bessie (Fagg) Anderson. He was a retired electronic technician from the state of -California.

After retirement, he "enjoyed doing woodwork and -jewelry manufacturing. He and Mary E. Sampson were married April 4, 1942. To this union, one son, Steven, born. Mary preceded Glen in -death May 9, 1971.

He was al-'so preceded in death by his -parents and a brother, Clair Anderson. On June 16, 1974, Glen married Vaden (Abel) Summers In Pleasant Hill, Calif. They moved to Missouri July 1, 1976. Survivors Include his wife, Vaden Anderson, of the home; son Steven and daughter-in-law Marilyn Anderson, Chica- Jio, a stepson, Homer hayer and wife Chris; two grandchildren, Alex and Nicole Thayer, N.Y.; a sister, Louise Bjork; two nieces, Mary Lou and Lindy, a very special niece, Martha Quarantello and family, Orange, a nephew, Ron Anderson and family, the Netherlands; a sister-in-law, Almira Anderson, and an aunt, Wilma Morris, Ark. Glen will be also be missed by other relatives and friends.

Jl Instead of connecting to the Mis souri Department of TransporjSi- tion's toll-free information line, callers instead were greeted by a breathy woman's voice: For hot. steamy, one-on-one action The phone number released on MoDOT letterhead from the department's District 2 Public Affairs Office in Macon had two digits transposed just enough to send callers the wrong message. Shane Peck, the public affairs manager for District 2, who issued the release, apologized for the error. "It was a typo and we're sorry that it happened," Peck said. Jim Coleman, a spokesman at MoDOT headquarters in Jefferson City, said the wrong number was an honest mistake.

"Mistakes happen and we're obviously sorry for anybody who calledthe numbers and were shocked, he said. Wayne Curtis Wilson Wayne Curtis Wilson, 67; Springfield, died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, In Cox Medical Center South, after a short illness. Born in Springfield, Wayne was a veteran of the Korean conflict, in which he served as a military policeman. He was a retired installer for Western Electric and was employed as "Senior Loafer" at Advanced Key and Gun.

His past honors include Worshipful Master of the Willard Lodge 620, A.F. A.M. He was a member of South Haven Baptist Church. Besides being a doting grandfather to his 11 grandchildren, Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished craftsman of knives and guns. Wayne was preceded In death by two brothers, Leslie and Bill Wilson; a son-in-law, David Lee Meredith; and a granddaughter, Anna Michelle Meredith.

Wayne Is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley; a son and daughter-in-law, David Wayne and Linda Wilson; two daughters and a son-in-lawj Kathleen Meredith, and Jennlr fer and Price Richardson, all of Springfield; four brothers, June Jack Lee, Roy and Gerald L. Wilson, all of Springfield; and two sisters, Erma Cogan, Plattsburg, N.Y., and Virginia Phelps, Aurora, Mo. He is also survived by his beloved Xrandchlldren, Emily, Kourtney, arin, Jesse and Grace Wilson, LeeAnn Meredlth-Tran, Son Tran, April and Davie Meredith, Ashleigh Hughes and Sydney Paige Richardson. In addition, Wayne Is survived by special nieces and nephews and close friends whom he considered family. A memorial service In celebration of Wayne's life will be at 3 p.m.

Freda Marshall Fielder FLORISSANT Freda Marshall Fielder, 102, FLORISSANT, died June 28, 2000. Freda was born near Springfield, July 1, 1897. She was the third of seven children. She married Dela Fielder Oct. 29, 1923.

Their daughters were Frances Cunningham, Baycliff, Texas, and the late Marcy Combs. Freda attended Greenwood School and graduated from Southwest Norman School (now Southwest Missouri State University) in Springfield in 1923 with a degree in home economics. After her husband's near fatal accident, they moved to a farm near Marshfield, Mo. Freda worked for various government agencies, teaching about the importance of good nutrition. She also taught home economics classes at SMSU.

With the advent of rural electrification, Freda demonstrated the use of electricity In the home for Webster Electric Co-op at Marshfield from 1949 until she retired in 1967. During that time, she had cooking demonstration programs on three different television channels in Springfield. With more available time, Freda became active In the Christian Women's Fellowship at South Street Christian Church and inaugurated the making and selling of over 1000 apple pies each fall. She was also active as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon and was responsible for the sanctuary floral arrangements, many of which came from her large flowers garden. In 1985, because of her eyesight, she sold her farm and moved to Gambrill Gardens, Ellisville, Mo.

She joined Webster Groves Christian Chruch and served as one of the teachers of the Fellowship Bible class. At Gambrill, she served on various committees and and was chair of the Residents' organization. She also taught a Sunday School class at Gambrill until he 100th birthday. She is survived by her daughter, Frances; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-greatgrandchildren; her sister, Kath-ryn Meyer; her brother, Murray Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Friday, June 30, 2000, in Springfield National Cemetery.

Opal Witherspoon Gregg Opal Witherspoon Gregg, 101, Springfield, passed away June 30, 2000, In Springfield Residential Center, Springfield. Opal was born Nov. 15, 1898, on a farm in Greene County, near Nichols Junction. She was the second child of William James Witherspoon and Sarah Clementine Witherspoon, and the last remaining child from this union. Her father was one of the first farm club organizers of the Greene County Farmers Association In 1917-18.

Later, the Producers Creamery, MFA Oil Company, and the Farmers Livestock Commission were organized. Opal attended Lakeview School and Draughons Business College. She worked at the Holland Bank on the public square until her marriage to David Luther Gregg March 3, 1920. Throughout her life, she demonstrated her desire to help others. She was a charter member of the Cox Auxiliary, having given over 15,000 hours of volunteer service.

She was a member of Dale Street United Methodist Church for many years and did volunteer work with the W.S.C.S. until her health prevented her from these activities. She passed the gift of laughter, love and knowledge to her family and friends. Her lineage dates back to Robert II, King of Scotland In the 1300s, and she was a descendant of John Witherspoon, who signed the Declaration of Independence; he was also a president of Princeton University. Opal was very proud of these facts.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two sons, Bobby Gene, In 1945, and Joseph William, in 1998; a sister; and three brothers. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Betty Gregg; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, In Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. No set visitation is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dale Street United Methodist Church. T.J. Stottle BRANSON "T.J." Stottle, 88, Branson, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in his home. He was bom Thomas Jefferson Stottle Jan. 2, 1912.

in Kir-byville, the son of Czar and Winnie (Brown) Stottle, and lived In Taney County most of his life. He received a B.S. degree In education from SMSU and a M.A. degree from Vanderbilt U. (Peabody College of Education), Nashville, Tenn.

T.J. Stottle taught high school classes in Ritchey, Sparta, Pleasant Hope, Blue Eye, Hollister, Forsyth and Branson. In the spring of 1942, his Pleasant Hope boys and girls basketball teams brought him a "Going Away to the Navy" Lewis W. "Duke" Armstrong Lewis W. "Duke" Armstrong, 79, Springfield, died at 9:25 p.m.

Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Primrose Place. The son of Lewis and Ida Armstrong, he was born July 16, 1920, in Lubac, Maine. He had lived in Springfield four years, moving here from Rhode Island. He was a retired government employee, having been in charge of a Naval warehouse in Maine. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Oak Grove Assembly.

He is survived by his wife, Florence of the home, whom he married Nov. 30, 1946; a son and his wife, Richard and Debbie Armstrong, Springfield; and three granddaughters, Janine, Jennifer and Julia Armstrong. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with the Rev. Ellis Hacker officiating.

Burial will be In Missouri Veterans' Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday In the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Oak Grove Assembly. Patrick J.

"Pat" Doyle PARSONS, Kan. Patrick J. "Par Doyle, 90, 502 S. 35th Street, Parsons, died at 5:04 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in the home of his daughter at 1914 Kennedy.

He was born March 17, 1910, at 1914 Kennedy, the same home in which he died. His parents were Frank and Ella (Hopkins) Doyle. He graduated from Parson High School and attended Parsons Junior College one year. In 1934, he began employment with the Western Glass Company in Parsons. In 1947, he established his own business Pat's Glass Shop.

Later, the business was known as the Doyle Glass Company. He had continued to work, even doing glass work after the Parsons tornado. -'v Mr. Doyle served In the U.S. Army during World War II, and, during the Korean War, he served with the 930th Ord- nance Company from Parsons.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member and past president of the former Parsons Optimist Club. He also had been a licensed private pilot. He and Marie Jenne were married Sept.
