4B Wednesday, July 1, 1992 The News-Leader OZARKS Obituaries Paid announcements are arranged through southwest Missouri funeral home directors. Genevieve Ratliff Ballard ST. LOUIS Private family services for Genevieve Ratliff Ballard, 83, St. Louis, will be Thursday, July 2, in St. Louis.

Mrs. Ballard died Friday, June 26, In St. Louis. Mrs. Ballard lived in Springfield from 1940 to 1946.

She loved Springfield and was very active In community affairs, and will be remembered especially for her work with Girl Scouts. She served as Girl Scout Commissioner and received Scouting's highest volunteer award, the "Thanks" badge. During World War II she headed Red Cross Canteen and was chairman of staff assistants. She also chaired Women's Division of Community Chest, and was a member of Sorosis Club. After many years spent In St.

Louis and later Sun City Center, Mrs. Ballard returned to Springfield in the late 80's for two years. At that time she reloined First Church of Christ Scientist, Springfield, and remained a member until her death. Her beloved husband, James H. Ballard died in 1985.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Ballard Johnson, St. Louis, and Marilyn Ballard Rabakukk, Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Fredrick Palmer Johnson, St. Louis, James Ballard Johnson, Springfield, and Ronald Karl Rabakukk, Arlington, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Building Fund, First Church of Christ Scientist, 320 E. Central, Springfield, Mo.

65802. Johnnie Lou Casey KANSAS CITY Johnnie Lou Casey, 59, Kansas City, died Saturday, June 27, 1992, in her home. She was born in San Diego, and was a waitress for 27 years with Stephensons Res taurant, Independence. Survivors are three daughters, Benita Hy-der, Sugar Creek, Bren-da Iseman. Springfield, and Rhonda Gammon, Kansas City; a sister, Lenora Camplaln, Watts, Oklaj and seven grandchildren, Mrs.

Teri Spoon, Willard, Mrs. Cathy Havens, Joplin, Brandee Iseman and Blaine Iseman, both of Springfield, Chris Gammon, Kansas City, and Cory Hyder and Nikkl Hyder, both of Sugar Creek. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Washington Cemetery, Independence, with the Rev. David S.

Plumbley officiating, under direction of Newcomer's Noland Road Funeral Home, Independence. Frank W. Cobban Frank W. Cobban, 83, Springfield, died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday in St.

John's Regional Health Center. The son of W.A. and Nellie Cobban, he was born In Greene County Aug. 22, 1908. Mr.

Cobban grew up south of Springfield In the Plain-view area and went to work for Armour Creameries Co. at an early age. He was promoted to plant superintendent and supervised their cheese-making plants In Springfield, Alton, and Woodbury, Tenn. After retiring from Armour he purchased a farm in Fair Grove and devoted 20 years to dairy cattle farming. He was a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church.

He Is survived by two sons, Bill, Tucker, and Jim, Springfield; a daughter, Patricia Emery, San Diego, seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several cousins. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery, south of Springfield. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

today In Greenlawn South. Pearl E. 'Mama Pearl' Davis Pearl E. "Mama Pearl" Davis, 87, Springfield, died at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 1992, in St.

John's Regional Health Center. On Sept. 5, 1904, In Laclede County, she was born to Henry Clayton and Anna Isabella Griffin Starnes. On July 3, 1923, in Lebanon, she was married to Franklin K. Davis, who preceded her in death April 9,1964.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sherman Starnes. She is survived by six children, Wanda Applegate and her husband Glenn, Old-field, Franky L. Davis and his wife Jo, Willard, Bob Davis and his wife Sparkle, June Rice and her husband Bud, Gloria Lou Mentzer and her husband Dane, and Jeri Fugitt and her husband Bob, all of Springfield; a sister, Desolee Broyles, Springfield; 20 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Services will be at 1 P.m.

Friday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with the Rev. Lee Huitt officiating. Burial will be in Lonesome Hill Cemetery, Phlllipsburg. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Dorothy S. Etherington Dorothy S. Etherington, 87, Springfield, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, June 29, 1992, In Mara-natha Manor. She was born Sept.

29, 1904, in Springfield to Paul and Lucy Simmons. A lifetime resident of Springfield, she graduated from Drury College and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a retired secretary of Missouri Department of Highways. She is survived by a son, Jack Etherington and his wife Ann, El So-brante, three grandchildren, Courtney, Jeff and Gary; and a sister, Pauline Owen, Springfield.

The body will be cremated under direction of Thieme Colonial Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday In Maple Park Cemetery with the Rev. Wilber Denney officiating. Clara Alice Giles CAUFIELD Clara Alice Giles, 82, Caufield, formerly of Seymour, died at 8:45 a.m.

Tuesday In Cox Medical Center South, Springfield following a long Illness. She and her late husband, Vernle, had owned and operated a grocery store In Seymour before retiring. She is survived by three brothers, Oren Viles, Republic, Hollls Viles, Ontario, and M.A. "Mick" Viles, Marionville; two sisters, Norene Graham, Rogersville, and Beatrice Britain, Ontario, a great-nephew, Quinton Lee Richards, Caufield; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1 p.m.

Thursday in Mea-dors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will be In White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. UK? Nora Irene Haggard MARSHFIELD Nora Irene Haggard, 82, Marshfield, died at 6:40 p.m.

Monday in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. She was a member of Marshfield First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Gene Haggard. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Lewis, Marshfield, and Odean Lewis, Napoleon; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday In Arthur's Colonial Chapel with the Rev. David Holt officiating. The body has been cremated. Delbert O.
